The statutes, as decided at the Guild meeting at the Luciafest in Styringheim AS XLV (2010-12-12) and revised at Guild meeting AS LIV (2019-07-11)

The statutes of the Drachenwald Theatre Guild

or Lantgraf Hartmann Rogge´s, Viscountess Filippa Birgersdotter´s and Countess Anna von Urwald´s Theatre Company

PURPOSE

To promote the theatrical arts in the Known World and, based on historical paragon, dramatise creative works from history. The aim is to thus spread knowledge, joy and sorrow from the bright Middle Ages.

GUILD MEETINGS

Held at events or whenever members meet. At meetings there will be exchanging of ideas and texts, rehearsals of appearances, workshops will be held and apprenticeship test gets approved.

The language of meetings is whatever the participants in the meeting prefer.

A report after the meeting is to be sent to the Elders, with at least a summary in English if the report is in another language.

RANKING

You can only level up one step at each event. The performance for higher rank has to be approved of those of higher rank in the Guild than the applicant.

The applicant has to ask to be moved up, before the performance.

When applying for Master, the applicant has to let the Guild, and especially the Masters, know of their wish to apply at least one month before their first performance.

Membership is open to anyone who shows an interest in Guild activities and/or participates in a guild meeting.

Apprenticeship is given to those who perform a poem, a monologue/dialogue or another dramatic presentation (alone or with another guild member) in front of at least one Apprentice or higher ranking member, and other guild members in a guild meeting.

The title of Journeyman is given to those who perform a poem, a monologue/dialogue or another dramatic presentation (alone or with another guild member) in front of at least one Journeyman or higher-ranking member, and present guests of a court, a banquet or other big occasion at an event.

The honour of the title Master in the Guild is given to the one who has held a lecture or workshop at an event and documented it in writing (and sent it to Dragon’s Tale) and on two separate occasions performed a poem, a monologue/dialogue or another dramatic presentation (alone or with another guild member) in front of at least one of the Masters, and the guests at court, a banquet or other big occasion at an event. The second performance must be done in front of present Majesties and/or Highnesses, and they too must approve the appointment of the masters.

PATRONS

After the medieval model, the guild is under the patronage of and operates in one or more noble lords/ladies names.

All performances are in the name of these good patrons, and they should always be revered and treated with due honour.

There should be at least one patron for the Guild.

There can also be more patrons for different regions of the kingdom.

A new patron needs to be approved by the Masters.

If all the Patrons should choose to take their patronage away from the Guild, a Guild meeting can discuss who they would like to ask for patronage from. The Masters have the final decision.

After the guild’s decision, the new patrons must be approved by their Majesties.

THE ELDERS

The Guild should have at least one Elder of each gender. They are responsible for keeping track of guild members and their rank, and administering the statutes.

The Elders shall encourage that the guild meetings are held regularly and spread the word of what happens in the guild through the Kingdom, for example on the guild webpage.

The Elders are responsible for appointing their own successors when they resign from their office. Their Majesties can appoint new Elder/Elders if all Elders have resigned without choosing their own successors.

STATUTES

To change the statutes there has to be at least one Elder present at the meeting.
